Celtis australis
A large deciduous tree very common in the Mediterranean, with lanceolate leaves and small fruits that attract birds.
The European nettle tree is a very hardy and easy-to-grow tree: plant it outdoors in full sun (at least 6 hours per day) in well-drained soil, as it tolerates poor and dry conditions. Water sparingly once established, relying on natural rainfall in Mediterranean climates and watering only during prolonged drought periods. It withstands frost down to -12 °C, so no winter protection is needed. Plant it in autumn or spring to ensure good root establishment.
