Celosia

Celosia cristata

Description

Annual plant with 'crested' type inflorescences. Bright colors and long flowering period.

Growing tips

The cockscomb needs between 6 and 9 hours of direct sunlight per day to bloom well during summer and autumn; place it in a very bright spot whether indoors or outdoors. Water it regularly, keeping the substrate slightly moist but never waterlogged, as moderate watering is ideal. It does not tolerate frost or temperatures below 10 °C, so in cold climates move it indoors when the cold arrives. It is an easy plant to grow and benefits from a well-drained substrate rich in organic matter to enhance its brightly coloured blooms.
