Catananche caerulea

Description

Plant with thin stems, small blue papery flowers that persist when dry. Subtle aromatic fragrance.

Growing tips

Catananche caerulea is a full-sun plant that needs at least 6-7 hours of direct sunlight per day; plant it outdoors in a sunny spot in spring or autumn. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings, as it is highly drought-tolerant and sensitive to excess moisture. Use a light, well-drained, low-nutrient substrate, ideal for Mediterranean climates; no winter protection is needed thanks to its excellent cold hardiness down to -12 °C.
