Capsicum annuum

Warm season vegetable with great variety of fruit shapes and colors.

Growing tips

Pepper needs between 7 and 12 hours of direct sunlight per day to thrive, so plant it in a sunny outdoor spot in spring, once temperatures are consistently above 10 °C and there is no risk of frost. It requires frequent and plentiful watering (high), keeping the soil moist but well-drained to prevent waterlogging. Use a fertile substrate rich in organic matter and fertilise regularly during summer to encourage flowering and fruiting. It grows very well outdoors in Mediterranean climates, but move or protect it if temperatures drop below 10 °C.
