Bougainvillea × buttiana 'Barbara Karst'
Highly floriferous tropical climbing plant with bright magenta bracts. Drought resistant and requires plenty of direct sunlight.
The 'Barbara Karst' bougainvillea needs between 7 and 12 hours of direct sunlight per day to bloom abundantly with its magenta bracts from spring through autumn; always plant it outdoors in a very sunny spot. Water infrequently, allowing the substrate to dry out well between waterings, as it is drought-tolerant and excess water can be harmful. It withstands temperatures down to -3 °C, but in areas with severe frosts protect the roots with a layer of mulch. Use a well-draining substrate and provide a support or structure for it to climb, as it can reach between 3 and 6 metres in height.
