Beta vulgaris subsp. vulgaris
Vegetable with simple cultivation featuring sweet and juicy roots. Frost-resistant and with edible leaves.
Beetroot is an easy-to-grow vegetable that needs between 5 and 11 hours of direct sunlight per day; plant it outdoors in spring or autumn, as it tolerates temperatures down to -3 °C. Water moderately and regularly, keeping the soil moist but well-drained to encourage root development. Use a rich, loose and deep growing medium to allow the roots to expand without obstruction. Remember that both the roots and the leaves are edible, so make the most of them both in the kitchen.
