Climbing dogwood

Berchemia racemosa

Description

Elegant climbing vine with fine leaves that produces small red fruits that evolve to black. Perfect for covering walls and pergolas with a natural appearance.

Growing tips

The Cornissa trepadora needs an outdoor location with direct sunlight, ideally between 5 and 9 hours per day, and a sturdy support such as a pergola or wall to grow to its full height of 3-6 metres. Water moderately, keeping the substrate slightly moist but never waterlogged, and reduce watering during winter. It tolerates frost down to -8 °C, making it suitable for Mediterranean and continental climates without the need for special protection. Plant it in autumn or spring in a well-drained, organic-rich substrate to encourage good spring flowering and fruit production.
