Arundo donax
Provence Reed Giant grass with rapid growth. Creates efficient visual screens and windbreaks.
Giant Reed requires full sun exposure (at least 5 hours per day) and moderate watering, increasing during the hottest months to keep the soil slightly moist. Plant it in spring in deep, fertile soil, as it can reach up to 6 metres in height and works excellently as a visual screen or windbreak. It is very hardy and tolerates frost down to -10 °C, but watch its aggressive growth: it can spread widely through rhizomes, so it is advisable to contain the planting area if space is limited. It is strictly an outdoor plant and easy to manage, ideal for Mediterranean gardens.
