Dill

Anethum graveolens

Description

Annual herb with yellow flowers in umbel. Widely used in Mediterranean cuisine.

Growing tips

Dill needs an outdoor location with direct sunlight for at least 6 hours a day and moderate watering, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings to prevent waterlogging. Plant it in spring or summer in well-drained, fertile soil, as it does not tolerate frost and should be protected when temperatures approach 0 °C. Since it can reach 60 to 120 cm in height, staking may be needed in windy spots. Harvest the leaves regularly to encourage growth and make the most of its intense aroma in the kitchen.
