Neapolitan Garlic

Allium neapolitanum

Description

Ornamental Allium with white flowers grouped in spherical umbels. Robust and easy-to-grow plant, ideal for dry gardens.

Growing tips

Plant the bulbs in autumn in a sunny spot with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight, in well-drained, light soil, as the plant does not tolerate excess moisture. Watering should be sparse, relying mainly on natural rainfall, and should be reduced almost completely in summer when the plant goes dormant. It is frost-hardy down to -5 °C, so no winter protection is needed in Mediterranean climates. Caution: the plant is toxic — avoid contact with eyes and wash hands thoroughly after handling it.
