Allium giganteum
Ornamental flower with spherical inflorescences of intense purple color that lasts for weeks. Robust and easy-to-grow plant, ideal for Mediterranean climate gardens.
Plant the bulbs in autumn in a sunny spot with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight and in well-drained soil, as it does not tolerate excess moisture. Watering should be sparse: water moderately during active growth and reduce it almost completely once the foliage dies back after flowering. It is very hardy and withstands frost down to -15 °C, so no winter protection is needed in Mediterranean climates. Bear in mind that it is a toxic plant, so avoid contact with your eyes and wash your hands after handling it.
