Vegetable plant that produces an edible bulb with a pungent flavor, used as a basic ingredient in cooking. Belongs to the same family as garlic and leeks.
Plant in rich, well-draining soil. Water moderately keeping moisture without waterlogging. Needs minimum 6 hours of direct sunlight. Harvest when leaves turn yellow. Avoid excess nitrogen which delays maturation.
