Agapanthus africanus
Perennial plant with spectacular blue flowers in summer.
Agapanthus needs between 4 and 8 hours of direct sunlight per day to bloom well in summer; plant it outdoors in a sunny spot, as it is not suitable for indoor growing. Water it moderately, allowing the substrate to dry out slightly between waterings, and reduce watering in autumn and winter. It is not frost-hardy, so if temperatures drop well below 0°C, protect the roots with a layer of mulch or move the bulbs to a sheltered location. Bear in mind that it is mildly toxic, so keep it out of reach of children and pets.
