Growing tips

The sycamore maple (Acer pseudoplatanus) is a large, hardy deciduous tree that requires an outdoor location with direct sunlight for at least 5-6 hours per day. It tolerates hard frosts down to -18°C and is highly resistant to wind and urban pollution, making it well suited to exposed gardens. Water with moderate regularity during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings, and reduce irrigation in autumn and winter when the tree is leafless. Plant it preferably in autumn or spring in deep, well-drained, organically rich soil, keeping in mind that it can reach up to 20 metres in height and is toxic to some animals.
