Acer palmatum
Decorative shrub with palmate leaves that change color according to the season, transitioning from green to red and orange. Perfect for shaded gardens with moist soil.
Acer palmatum needs between 3 and 8 hours of direct sunlight per day, but benefits from some shade during the hottest hours of summer to prevent leaf scorch. Water with moderate frequency, keeping the soil slightly moist, especially during dry periods, and plant it in cool, acidic, well-drained soil. It is frost-hardy down to -15 °C, although young spring shoots can be sensitive to late frosts and may need protection if necessary. Bear in mind that it is toxic, so contact between children or pets and any part of the plant should be avoided.
