The field maple is a robust deciduous tree, highly frost-resistant down to -25 °C, ideal for planting in autumn in outdoor gardens. It requires direct sunlight, with a minimum of 5 hours per day, and moderate watering: water regularly during the first years to encourage rooting, then reduce frequency once established. Plant it in well-drained soil with plenty of space, as it can reach 15 metres in height and 8 metres in width. It is an easy-to-grow species that requires no special care and offers green foliage that turns spectacular in autumn.
